Writing About the Wild

When cold weather traps us indoors, there's nothing like an inspiring read to warm the cockles of the heart.

This week, Outside Magazine published a list of 25 works by women about the wild. The authors date to the 19th century and include: two winners of the Wainwright Outdoor Writing Prize, one Pulitzer Prize winner, one Pulitzer finalist, a recipient of a MacArthur Genius Award, a John Burroughs Medal winner, a Sigurd F. Olsen Nature Writing Award winner, and a Whiting Award for Non-Fiction winner.

There's a book on this list for every taste, every mood, and every discipline.

Cuddle up!
