On September 24, 2018, TasteWise Kids is hosting its annual Farm to Chef Maryland competition at The Assembly Room, a new industrial event space in downtown Baltimore.
The competition matches Maryland farmers with local chefs and then challenges those chefs to create original dishes using ingredients from that farm.
The event is the primary fundraiser for Days of Taste, a program for which many HoLLIE graduates volunteer. The program is for fourth grade students in Title 1 schools and introduces children "to the basic elements of taste and teach[es] them about food’s journey from farm to table." Children learn about composting, contour farming, integrated pest management, and other earth-friendly practices.
