Audubon of MD Seeks Volunteers

The Audubon Society of Central Maryland (ASCM) is looking for active volunteers and board members to further our work. A chapter of the National Audubon Society, we own and manage two wildlife sanctuaries in Mt. Airy and New Market, and our territory includes Howard, Frederick, and Carroll Counties. At the sanctuaries, we host monthly nature works, special events such as bird banding demonstrations and monarch butterfly tagging, and citizen science programs such as Climate Watch and bird and butterfly counts.

We support conservation efforts locally and state-wide, through advocacy, donations, and citizen science participation by our members. We also engage in education efforts through our schoolyard habitat grant program and our partnership with Safe Skies Maryland to teach ways to prevent bird collisions with windows.

We’re looking for volunteers to help outdoors at our sanctuaries and to participate in Climate Watch and other citizen science projects, and for board members who can take leadership roles to continue, expand, and obtain funding support for our programs and our properties. We would love to hear from people who care about birds, other wildlife, and the ecosystems wildlife and people depend upon.
